How we count points
No hidden rules. Play with the sliders and see live how many points your scenario gives.
See for yourself
Set the difficulty, time, hints and mistakes. The result on the right is calculated exactly the same way as after a real game.
Points per difficulty
Every difficulty has its own base. Harder means more - from 5 up to 120 points for starters.
What multiplies your score
The base gets multiplied by how you play. Faster, cleaner, mistake-free - bigger reward.
Pace
You beat the target time - you get a bonus. Slower - the multiplier drops, but never below half.
Purity
Zero hints multiplies your score by 1.3. One hint - 1.1. Two or more - just the base.
No mistakes
Zero mistakes is our favorite scenario. We multiply the result by 1.2. One slip and the multiplier is gone.
Seasonal challenge
Sometimes a seasonal multiplier is active for a specific difficulty. The same result then gives more points.
Bonuses
Some boards add a flat premium on top of the normal calculation - for consistency or for risk taken.
Daily puzzle
+5One puzzle a day, the same for everyone. Each solve adds 5 points - a small reward for the habit.
Iconic puzzle
+50Famous puzzles from the sudoku world. You cannot make a single mistake here - one slip and the score is gone. For the courage: +50 points.
When the score does not count
To keep the ranking fair, we block a few obvious shortcuts. The result still lands in your stats - it just does not go into the ranking.
Too many hints
Easy/Medium/Hard/Expert: max 3 hints. Master: only 1. Extreme: none.
Too many mistakes
More than 3 mistakes in one game. Only possible when you turn off auto game-over after 3 mistakes in settings.
Express Easy with a hint
Easy done in less than half of the target time plus any hint - a classic attempt to grind points fast.
Glossary
A few terms we use above.
Target time
A decent time for a given difficulty. Beat it and you get a pace bonus. Slower and the multiplier drops, but never to zero.
Base
Starting points for the difficulty itself, before any multipliers and bonuses.
Multiplier
The number we multiply the base by. 1.0 means "no change", 1.3 means "30% more", 0.5 means "half".
Purity
How few hints you used. The fewer, the cleaner - and the higher the multiplier.
